A história se passa 150 anos depois dos eventos de TESV: Skyrim, no que novamente nos trás Hammerfell e High Rock como palcos. Com o desaparecimento do ultimo Dragonborn, e o Império enfraquecido por retomar Skyrim e não ter obtido sucesso na proibição de adoração a Talos, Aldmeri Dominion viu isso como uma quebra do Acordo da Torre de Ouro Branco e eles declararam guerra novamente contra o império. O Império regido sob um novo imperador, percebendo a real ameaça dos Thalmors. Propôs aos Reis Supremos de High Rock e Hammerfell uma aliança contra Aldmeri Dominion.(Aliança de Adamantina) Para proteger a todo custo o que restava do Império . E para proteger Ada-Mantia, a ultima Torre ativa que ainda estabilizava e criava barreiras entre os planos de Mundus. Se Ada-Mantia for desativada tudo estará perdido. Pois os Thalmors atingirão o grau de divinos novamente. Com isso, eles pretendem aniquilar todas as racas julgadas inferiores especialmente as racas dos homens.

Em meio a tudo isso surge mais um prisioneiro. Que vai mudar o destino de todos.

(The story takes place 150 years after the events of TESV: Skyrim, again back in Hammerfell and High Rock as stages. With the disappearance of the last Dragonborn, and the Empire weakened by resuming Skyrim and have not been successful in banning the worship of Talos. And to protect Ada-Mantia, the last active Torre still stabilized and created barriers between Mundus plans. If Ada-Mantia is disabled all is lost. For the Thalmors reach the degree of divine again. With that, they intend to annihilate all races deemed inferior races especially men.)

Amidst all this appears more a prisoner. That will change the fate of all.
